The Antifascist International in Commemoration of the Day of Bolivarian Anti-Imperialism
STATEMENT FROM THE ANTIFASCIST INTERNATIONAL IN CONMEMORATION OF THE DAY OF BOLIVARIAN ANTI-IMPERIALISM
The Antifascist International stands with the Venezuelan people in commemorating the Day of Bolivarian Anti-Imperialism, celebrated every March 9 since 2016, in response to the infamous executive order issued by Barack Obama that declared Venezuela an «unusual and extraordinary threat» to the United States. Far from intimidating the Venezuelan people, this act became a symbol of anti-imperialist struggle and a call for unity among peoples defending their right to build their own destiny free from external interference.
Fascism, as the state of exception of a decaying imperialism, is the desperate and violent response of a system seeking to maintain its dominance in the face of rising peoples fighting for their liberation. In contrast, Bolivarian Anti-Imperialism embodies the defense of dignity, justice, and the unity of peoples against all forms of oppression.
Today, the legacy of Simón Bolívar, the Liberator, lives on in the struggle against modern forms of colonialism and oppression, manifested in economic blockades, criminal sanctions, and destabilization campaigns. For this reason, we reclaim this date as a symbol of global struggle against imperialism and fascism. The resistance and struggle of the Venezuelan people serve as an example for all those who believe in a multipolar world where solidarity and sovereignty are fundamental pillars.
Long live the Day of Bolivarian Anti-Imperialism!
Long live the struggle of the peoples for their liberation!
